Rock the Boat Don't Tip the Boat OVER!

Hey everyone..
sorry about the lack of blog that there has been recently. I hope you are enjoying your summer. But I wanted to post some pics of my newest project i just finished illustrating a Pyranha Molan kayak and i am pretty excited about the results. Since it was my first attempt at doing this i stuck with one of my favorite themes naked ladies and random house hold objects. Keep your fingers crossed that i will be getting a few more boats to do my designs on because this was a really fun interesting way to display my art to the
world. If i do any more i will keep posting pics until than here is the boat i have done...

Oh and by the way here is your happy song to make you day a little brighter.

So i Met the Fonz...

Hey
Just wanted to let my minimal fan base know that I have now met another one of my pop culutre inspirations Henry Winkler aka The Fonz. He was an amazingly sweet man I told him he was my graduation present which he seemed very enthused that not only did I graduate college but I traveled just to seem him for a present. HA! He signed a photo and took what he called a "prom" photo with me than he asked me to go to the prom! Awesome!

Any who while I was in Ocean City I didnt just Chum it up with Henry I also canvased the area with bumper stickers ( So HELLO! if you saw one of them and looked me up glad you are here.) And also took some great refreance of The Ocean city Gallery for an idea I have.
Oh and I am working on some SWEET cards featuring my dog Radar! They will be in block print. But Check out the sketch and see what you think!

knowledge is the key...

Hey Hon!
So I have been taking some time out to study up on Baltimore pop culture and ask some friends and family for any cool retro pics they may have from around the city for this project i am working on. FACT: The BOB-A-LOOP was a toy that was apparently produced right here in Baltimore! bet you didnt know... now you do! and in case you didnt know what this is look to the left... a Bob-a-loop. is the WAY more dangerous version of Ball in a cup. Because you see that barrel on the top solid wood... and when your flinging that thing around trying to catch it on the stick ... well lets just say i found one of these as a kid in my grandmothers house and smacked my self in the face a time or two. Any way back to the point at hand here i have been doing mucho research and have finally started some collages/ sketches here is the first of many see what you think! Oh and by the way Sorry about the giant logo on the pic but i dont want my image walking off with out me somewhere.

Just to let everyone know i am now a college graduate as of last Saturday! and thanks to my BFF Nikki for the shout out on her blog so i will do the same for her. Check out her AWESOME work at her blog...

Already on to the next project!

So I know I just did a post yesterday but I do believe I am already on to my next piece. With a project to get the word out about Maryland artists. I do believe that I may be focusing on The Enchanted Forest for those who do not know it is a fairy tale based theme park that opened in 1955 right after Disney Land YAY Maryland giving Walt Disney a run for his money. This Theme park was also featured in one of my favorite directors films "Cry Baby" (John Waters in case you didn't know.) So keep checking back for up dates on this new art I am Very excited. And in the mean time watch this Enchanted forest clip from "Cry Baby" its cool all of the things they used from the original park!

Hello.

I actually had one nice man say " Darling the dress is gorgeous but the earrings make it!" that is the statement of the century. But mainly this post is to say Thank you to everyone and Congratulations to my fellow classmates! just one more short walk and we are done! YAY! Thanks Again! I am sure i will be posting new work ASAP!

Quick Up Date!

So sorry that I have added nothing new in a while but my life has been slightly taken over by my end of the year work. I am very excited to say I received my new business cards the other day. Now I feel VERY business like. And as for today I visited a portfolio boot camp in Fredrick MD about a hour and a half from home. I was lucky enough to meet with four different designers and professors from different colleges. They were very interested to see my work and claimed that i have a refreshing new idea about a some what dieing art of doing wood block by hand and not using a computer program. It's great to hear a new take on my work from some one else it is just as cool when it was a positive one. Hopefully in the next day or two their will be some up date pictures on how the thesis work is going, Gallery piece goes in and than up Monday at 10. I am using the Mermaid print I had featured in my last blog.

Bellow is the portfolio boot camp website the blue ridge AIG Hosts this event once a year let me to say Thank You to Them and the Reviewers as well!

The show must go on.

In between my constant hyperventilation about my thesis work i have to do some other wood block as well this is one of them its for a travel mug. ps. i hate hipster music. just thought i would throw that in there... Im really happy with how this turned out though i wish it was slightly more saturated in back ground color. i will most likely fix this.

Thesis Pieces = Reeces Pieces?

Hey.
So i have been working my tookus off for at least two days solid on my first of four thesis pieces yes i truly hate saying that it always makes me think of reeces pieces, any who i thought i should post the start of this first piece. The image you see to the left is of the wood cut poster for the HonFest that im currently working on this is the first stage after transferring my image to wood i than trace the image in sharpie and begin to cut places that i have shaded black will stay black in the long run of the wood cut. The next step in making this image is to start to cut. I use a dermal tool for all my cuts, this is not the traditional way of making a wood cut but i does speed up the process vastly and i get to use poor tools which is always a REALLY big plus!
To the right is photo the photo of my block after all of the cuts have been made. And by the way the pic at the top is of my new favorite attachment! just had to show it off.

My First Blog.

Hello there..... well this is my first blog and I am not really sure how to begin it. Other than I am a budding artist ( well I really don't like the word budding but it seemed appropriate in this context.) And i wanted you my blog reader to be able to see some of my thoughts ideas and processes. I work mainly in block print but i also throw in some other mixed medias for spice from time to time. I have some heavy influences from retro illustrators such as Alberto Vargas
A great pinup artist that worked from the 20's all the way through the 60's for Places like Playboy
Gil Elvgrin A great illustrator that was part of the Sunny Sundblom circle (the guy who designed the coca cola Santa)
As well As Great Pulp Artist such as Norman Saunders.
and fine artist such as Evard Munk His color usage as well as block prints are a huge thing for me.

"Shaft" an examplee of my work sorry the image is not the best quality I am sure in the near future i will be posting a better quality image of this piece.
Well that's a nice little preview of me i suppose ill keep you up dated on more cool things happening with my art. I know i don't seem very interesting right now but please keep checking back cross my heart i am.

Thanks Darling!
